Daniel Aeschbacher studied architecture and holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from San José State University (SJSU) in California, a Master’s degree in Environmental Technology and Management, and postgraduate qualifications in higher education teaching and societal transformation from the DRIFT Transition Academy in Amsterdam.

Since his youth, Daniel Aeschbacher has been deeply influenced by free art, and creative challenges and a spirit of experimentation have continued to inspire and accompany him throughout both his artistic path and his practice in applied art. Early on Aeschbacher came in contact with the "Zürcher Konkreten". The movement was strongly connected to Swiss modernism, architecture, typography, and design culture, and Max Bill was probably it's the best-known representative. The fascination and practice of 'konkrete Kunst' in his early years led to the exploration of diverse fine art direction and design.

From 1980 to 1989, he studied Industrial Design at San José State University and worked in California with Hartmut Esslinger at Frogdesign. In 1989, Ettore Sottsass invited Aeschbacher to Milan, Italy, where he collaborated with him on numerous avant-garde projects as an architect and designer.

From 1990 to 1995, he served as a visiting lecturer at the Europe Art Center College of Design in Switzerland. In 1991, he established his own design consultancy in Switzerland, working in the fields of product design and design management. Together with partners, he founded Eurodesign in Lyon, France, and collaborated with partners in Zurich as well as in Silicon Valley. In 1995, he assumed the role of Design Manager at Plantronics in Santa Cruz, California, and later at Hewlett-Packard in Grenoble, France. His design work has received several international awards.

From 2001 to 2022, Daniel Aeschbacher taught at the School of Design Bern (SfGB). From 2004 to 2022, he was a lecturer and member of the core team of the Design Management International (DMI) program at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Design Film Art (HSLU). As a professor within the DMI program, he was responsible for all modules and courses related to design, sustainability, and circularity.

In April 2022, Daniel Aeschbacher joined the team and network of epeaswitzerland, where he assumed responsibility for professional continuing education modules. He authors studies, delivers lectures, and leads workshops on the topics of innovation and design, the circular economy, and circular thinking. In 2026, he was invited for the third consecutive time to serve as a juror for the German Sustainability Award.
